#The Notes of Music

In this Lesson you will learn how to find and identify any note on your guitar.

#Step one

Memorise the open string note names.

#Step two

Learn the Musical Alphabet

#Flats

For now think of flats as a different way to name the same note. It’s the opposite of a sharp#. Ab is the same as G#.

Flats are notated with a lowercase b

#Memorise the notes on strings 5 and 6, frets 3 5 and 7.

This will give you starting point from which to find all other notes.

After that use the Octave Shapes to quickly find a note anywhere.
